Two other shawlettes and a scarf

A Fine Line

Do I like this?
I don't think I like all the blank space around it.
The urge to cut it up is starting......

A Time To Be Knitting

I have been doing some knitting, finishing up projects starting new ones and so forth. it is that time of year. I have finally finished all the socks in work except one pair. This shawlette is made from some handspun wool that I made at the beginning of the year and forgot all about. Yesterday, I bought some size 35 needles. They look too big to hold! More shawls? Maybe a curtain?

Nuno Anyone?

.
Some friends of mine are taking a class in Nuno Felting, and requested that I share some of my Nuno experiments with them. And so, as usual, I got to thinking and messing about and made the piece pictured above. It is made with prefelts--a carded background and then bits of a silk scarf, prefelted and cut out--the whole felted onto a piece of wool sweater. Last night, I did some hand stitching on it with wool needlepoint yarns, but I don't have a photo of that yet as I want to do more stitching. I think I will felt the stitching into the piece.

Fingerless Glove

This free-form piece of knitting which you saw in the last blog and here in the small background photo, has turned into a fingerless glove. It just sort of happened. No way I can make another just like it and I don't want to anyway. Maybe I will just make another one in similar colors or wear one like Michael Jackson!

Fabric from Spoonflower

Look!
I am so excited.
My fabric came from Spoonflower
http://www.spoonflower.com/welcome
The yellow piece with the elephants (Something Like An Elephant) is my design, the pale green piece is from a drawing by my five year old granddaughter
Robin Kay Broussard.
I can hardly wait to do more!

Roller Stamps

I have been wanting to make some Roller Stamps for a while. I read somewhere about doing them
on old rolling pins, so I bought a couple of them from the thrift store to try, but they are still on the shelf (by the way--they weren't cheap!). Then I saw this post.

So, I thought I would try it with paper towel rolls instead. I have a big stack of stick-on foam sheets that I bought at the dollar store for making stamps, so I had that in house, along with some paper towel rolls. It was seven in the morning, cool and quiet with nothing to interrupt me.

It is a good idea and fun to do, but here are a couple of things I suggest if you make one. Get the kind of paint roller in the photo on Ro Bruhn's blog post. The little ones like I used are too small for the paper rolls and so you have to pad them someway. If you use those, make sure you use one that has enough space between the roller and the handle. Why bother. Just use the other kind of roller.
Well I would like to, and I have one somewhere but my husband has put it away with the painting supplies and he doesn't remember where he put them. Also, when I started this project this morning, he was still asleep, I am still in my pajamas and it is farther then I want to go this morning to get to town. I have a bunch of the little plastic sponge rollers, so I am making do with what I have. I am good at that and it forces me to get more creative. Note the pool noodle roller stamp threaded on the brush handle! Later on today, I will make a better effort to find the other roller, but in the meantime, I think I will get another cup of coffee and do more prints with these three......
